  1. Company hired you, not your personal life/blog. But I guess if you are interested in the project yourself, it’s no harm plugging it. But then again, if the request is obviously an abuse of authority, it shouldn’t be done. It should be done out of interest and goodwill if no monetary compensation is involved.

If i would like to plug about it, would have done it before they asked. I don’t like being in a situation when they ask, it makes it very awkward to say no. 🙁

  2. Depending on how I feel about the product, accept or politely refuse. Not everything is applicable (don’t ask me to pimp your new fast-drying cement mix) but if it is relevant to my audience, I will do so, with full disclosure.

Though I’ve not faced this situation myself (for obvious reasons) I have been asked to “tap” or “leverage” my “blogger friends” to get more publicity, which I had to politely turn down.

I guess part of my job is leveraging on my contacts which i’m fine. but blogging on my personal blog is crossing the line.

  3. depends on what they asked you to blog about. or you could create a separate blog to post those things and link it to your blog?
