The great Smith contacted me some time back with such a wonderful offer that I couldn’t say no to.
He used the words: Sensational, thrill, comfort and luxury.
I was practically sold by the end of his sales pitch.
So… he invited me down to try out the Volvo V40 for the weekend. Me. Yours truly. Who drove maybe like 5 times since I passed? Who the hubby grumbles and nags all the time when I drive?
Me.
ARE YOU SURE SMITH?
When I told my colleagues about Smith’s offer, one of them told me to buang the car. LOLOLOLOL.
Anyway, Smith is a very very very brave man.
Anyway, I took up his offer. HURHUR. But of course, the boring old hubs was there to make sure I do not cause Smith his job. BAH!
HELLO YOU SEXY THING.
I gotta confess, I was lusting over this instead.
WHY YOU SO CHIO?! I WANT A VINTAGE CAR FOR MY WEDDING OHMYTIANALLAHBUDDHAGODCHEESUSCHRIST!
We left the hubby’s bike at the Volvo Showroom and zoomed away with the car….
And the baby.
What baby?
I married a child.
ANYWAY…
As I had the whole weekend with the Volvo V40, we made full use of it!
Drove for late night makan!
As I was used to japanese cars, I had a bit of trouble adapting to the continental way. I kept hitting the wipers instead of signalling. BAH!
We played with the 3 themes!
The “Eco” theme has a green background and includes an economy meter to allow you to drive as economically as possible. A green light is illuminated when your eco driving is optimal.
The “Performance” theme has red background illumination and includes a power meter that tells the driver how much power is being used and how much is available. In this mode, the tachometer is centralised on the instrument display, and speed is shown digitally. This is the setting of choice when spirited driving is preferred.
The “Elegance” theme has an amber illumination and gives a more conventional dash display. It’s perfect for a calm, relaxing drive, and will probably be the everyday setting of choice.
Guess which did I choose in the end? I used “Performance”! But that’s just because I like the colour red. *flips hair*
The next day, we drove to Sentosa! Because motorbikes are not allowed in Sentosa, the c(hubby) and I haven’t visited Sentosa in ages! And decided to take a little photoshoot of the car! Also read little tidbits of what we think about the car below. (Some from the hubs, some from meh!)
Volvo has always been known for its safety features, which is a perfect car to test in my case, according to the c(hubs). I liked that the Volvo V40 is keyless, I can simply dump the key in my handbag and drive!
By its model name, V40, it is in the wagon series but this V40 is very stylish and sporty1.6L, this turbo-charged engine gives you a torquey acceleration while driving. Got power, he says.
The Volvo V40 is spacious, you can even fit a c(hubby) inside!
Comfortable seats, which gives a very luxurious feel unlike other cars. You know, the cramped tiny feeling in a small car? Despite being a 1.6L, it feels like there’s ample space!Even enough space for Jack Neo to do his youknowwhat!
The full Panoramic Glass Roof gives a even more spacious feel. I read that the tinted roof reduces infrared radiation which was why despite the extremely hot day, it was still cooling!
Personally for me, I loved that there is a connector, I charged my iPhone here. There is also ample space to put “barang barangs” here!
The hubby was very impressed about the safety features. Volvo is the first to offer a Pedestrian Airbag Technology that will activate the air bag on the bonnet when contact with pedestrian. A new innovation and the 1st in Volvo. The lane keeping aid proved very useful for me. It will ‘alert’ you by vibrating the steering wheel if one accidentally swerve out of lane while driving. Apparently I have problems keeping in lane. T.T
Road Sign Information indicates the current road speed limit to prevent speeding. It also detects “no overtaking” signs! They also have this Park Assist Pilot which helps you to parallel park with no hands on the steering wheel however we couldn’t activate this :/
We enjoyed ourselves tremendously with the Volvo V40 and were very sad to return it. Back to good old bike. No more tiny skirts and heels. LOL.
Thank you Volvo for the great experience! And no. I did not buang the car.
