The Unexpected Chronicles of Nadia and Jen Jen! – Day 7 Episode 5 : Moooooing like a Mad Cow! (Sydney)

In case you’re wondering what the heck is this all about, you may want to read these first.

Anyway…. After the funfilled tour with our fab Diva, we headed back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. The poor DJs had to skip dinner with us as they had to be on air.

All dressed up for dinner!

My outfit of the day. Same dress as what I wore for the Stomp Photoshoot. It’s a must to wear leggings cause it’s way too short to be worn on its own. Confirm zaogeng!

Jen jen’s outfit! Sweet dress!

Camwhoring away.

We had a very charming gentleman who picked up us from the hotel! When we were on our way to Mad Cow, we spotted Krispy Kreme! We then made a mental note to head over there after dinner to grab some delish donuts.

Check out this interesting saying.

Heh. Very true! :X

Mad Cow is one of the restaurants, bars and cocktail lounges under Ivy and is quite new. It is a New York-style grill with the Peter Doyle designed menu with Head Chef Chris Whitehead at the helm.

The place was beautful! It felt very “vintage” and classy. Makes me feel like I was transported back to the sixties where everyone dressed up, had fun, partied and the days when gentlemen actually stood up whenever the ladies stood up. *cough*

Just check out the place! I love love love the booth seats. Every different bar, restaurant had a different feel and you’ll feel like you’ve transported to different eras and different scenes. Any one restaurant, bar or lounge of Ivy’s is a fantastic place to chill or enjoy a good dinner with friends. I love the place!

My only complain was the lighting which was a good and bad thing. Good because it made everyone felt cosier and comfortable. Bad because I had to use flash for everything which kinda spoilt most of the pics. You’ll see why later.

Happy steak lovers.

As usual, we decided to order a few starters and appetisers to share. By now, you should be able to guess what we ordered.

Scallops! (which by the way is pronounced as skull-lops). This is actually grilled white scallops, black pudding, apple, radish, beetroot jelly, romesco salsa and is priced at an affordable AUD$28.

Very very very delicious. It practically melts in your mouth and I was almost doing a Meg Ryan after that!

Sashimi of kingfish, cucumber, pickled limes, wasabi flying fish roe, ponzu sauce. AUD$27.

I usually do not take sashimi. Am not a fan of raw food but this was really nice!

and the last starter/appetiser….

โ€œPrawn cocktailโ€ โ€“ poached spencer gulf prawns, iceberg lettuce, tomato chilli jam at AUD$28.

To be honest, I felt this dish was a tad pricey. 3 prawns for AUD$28?! Ouch. But I gotta admit, the prawns were very fresh!

I was actually quite full after the delicious starters but how can we skip the steak?! We medium rares must steak together!

We ordered some sides to share.

One of them was the tomato, cucumber, radish, olive, goats feta, mint salad priced at AUD$10. I absolutely adored this! I love tomato and feta cheese. NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Rosemary garlic fried potatoes at AUD$6. Tasted like any other fried potatoes. ๐Ÿ˜› Way too much for us.

And of course, not forgetting the steak!

Jenny ordered the Wagyu Skirt Steak (score 9). I can’t remember the price as the menu has been modified. Jen felt that the steak was a tad too dry for her.

While Jon and I ordered the Eye fillet, grain fed 250g priced at AUD$45. Very juicy! I love it!

The steaks came with a choice of sauces but as all of us couldn’t decide which sauces to have, we decided to try all of them!

Bearnaise, Chimichurri, Green Peppercorn and Taragon mustard butter.

Jenny and I shared the dessert which was the:

Grape + something I can’t remember sorbet. It had a very unique taste which I didn’t quite like. ๐Ÿ™

Group pic!

Jon was really a sweetheart and we were really sad to find out that we wouldn’t be spending the rest of the Sydney leg with him. ๐Ÿ™

We explored and took a look at the other bars and then went to check out Krispy Kreme! Sadly everything was sold out!!!

We weren’t fated to have Krispy Kreme! ๐Ÿ™

As we had a very long day the next day, we then headed back to the hotel to have an early night.

If you’re heading to Sydney, do check out Mad Cow at Ivy. Honestly I do think it might be a tad expensive but the ambience and the whole experience made up for it. Please get the scallops!
