Trying to clear my backlogs like mad!
As per the Ching Chong Hubby and my tradition, we always organise staycations for each other’s birthdays. Last year, I chose to celebrate his birthday at New Majestic Hotel. (Not a sponsored stay or advertorial. Paid from my pocket, for those who were wondering)
As some of you guys may have remembered, my first staycation with the hubby was at Wanderlust Hotel. I had also done my final year project on Hotel 1929 back in Temasek Polytechnic as part of my Hospitality Management course. I had chosen to write about themed hotels back then. (Damn! Have yet to stay at Hotel 1929!)
Guess what did Hotel 1929, Wanderlust and New Majestic Hotel have in common? Yes, there are under the same family!
Background info: The hubby’s birthday is around 7 month if I’m correct.
I had booked a room at New Majestic Hotel and was told to our pleasant surprise that we got upgraded to a Lifestyle Room.
We weren’t that excited after seeing the room.
Maybe it was me thinking too much but the room looked damn creepy lah. Plus it’s 7 month. And nearby the hotel, there were people burning lots of offerings.

We tried to ask if we can change rooms but turns out there was no other rooms. Ah well. So… we made do.

I loved the bathroom area.
Love the two sinks! The hubby and I didn’t had to fight for the sink :p
The balcony area was nice but due to the burnings, it was very smokey and dusty.
As I didn’t really feel very comfortable in the room, we ended up spending more time outside. We checked out facilities and took more pictures.
How did I find the staycation? Honestly speaking, the bed was comfy, the decor was nice. Service was good. But it was just the wrong room, wrong timing (7 month) and wrong ambience (burning offerings nearby) which made me feel very uncomfortable. Also the smoke and dust was choking when we walked around outside or was at the balcony.
We didn’t go for breakfast and we checked out early. Perhaps I’ll try again next time but definitely not during 7th month or the Wayang room. Other than that, pretty place.
Pity. :/ Was I being too paranoid?

Hey nadnut!! I seldom leave comments but I must say!! I would have been really creep out to stay in that room too! I dont think you are being paranoid! And I think the design is just really wrong, and I personally don’t believe in 7th month. Hahaha.

My first thought of the room is HUAT AH! I guess wrong time lol. If it’s during CNY, I think you wouldn’t be creeped out but want to play ban luck instead.

I like your honest post! Initially I did not get why you had to mention about the 7th month thing until I saw the pictures of the room. I can’t imagine how it feels in the middle of the night.
