As mentioned in my previous post, the kind folks at ICON and the Sofitel group hosted the hubby and me for 2 nights at Sofitel Krabi. We extended a few more nights out of our own moolah.
After the lovely time in Bangkok, where we shopped and ate to our hearts’ content, we took a flight to Krabi. It was our first time to Krabi. Most of the times, we usually visit Phuket instead.
Some info about Krabi:
Krabi is one of the southern provinces of Thailand, at the shore of the emerald of the Andaman Sea. Dramatic limestone cliffs veil the wonders of ancient sea cave. Dense mangroves give way to waterfalls touched by the warmth of the sun. Most notable of Krabi are the solitary limestone hills, both on the land and in the sea as islands such as Phi Phi Island, Chicken Island, Hong Island, and other amazing unseen islands which are well-know around the world.
Friends all told me that Krabi was more laid back and perfect for honeymooners We thought it would be a welcome change especially after the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. We checked into Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa shortly after we arrived.
Sofitel Krabi is located 40 minutes away from the airport and the journey was rather smooth without any hiccups.
The hotel is decorated in timeless French colonial style, all rooms and suites have a spacious bathroom, imported French bath products. We spotted Hermes products! o.O
We were amazed by the kind hospitality of the Sofitel Group. Not only did they upgrade our room, they also provided a very nice welcome fruits basket for us.
Just check out the room!
I loved the fact that we had a balcony. The hubby and I spent days just lazing out there, nomming on our fruits and people watching.
The beach was just infront of our hotel, in fact, it felt like we just walked out and within 5 mins, ta-dah! Instant beach. We didn’t had to pay for towels or to lie on the beds unlike our previous experiences in Phuket.
We also made full use of the pool and the hammocks located in the hotel.
Needless to say, we decided to spoil ourselves with a very delightful couple massage at Sofitel Krabi So Spa. In line with the timeless French style, the spa used L’Occitane products. I hear that So Spa is the first worldwide spa using L’Occitane!
We both tried the So Exhilarating Body Massage. The masseuse helped soothe our aches. It was definitely a good experience.
We ended the trip with a fantastic local dinner in town.
Krabi is definitely more slower paced than Phuket. Perfect for honeymooners because honestly.. There isn’t much to do. LOL.
