I was invited by the kind folks at Five Stones Hostel to enjoy a Staycation a week before they officially open.
Here’s some background info about Five Stones Hostel.
Conveniently located in the Clarke Quay area, Five Stones Hostel is designed to provide guests with an immersive backpacking experience through specially crafted local elements.
Named after a local childhood game, Five Stones Hostel is the first hostel in Singapore to provide themed rooms designed by local artists. Each of its nine rooms is tastefully designed with a different Singaporean cultural icon, such as Vanda Miss Joaqium, Pick-Up Sticks and Chapteh. The wall murals in each room are accompanied by explanations of each theme. On top of that, special custom-made Five Stones Pillows are placed on each bed for guests.
The rooms are nicely decorated as mentioned in the above official writeup. Here’s some pictures of the rooms! (Some of the pictures are by dear Jace!)
The dorm rooms.
If the bed is taken, you’ll see this.
If you see this, it’s free for you to jump in! 😉
The double private rooms.
The unique Five Stones pillows.
Ashley (cofounder of Five Stones Hostel) mentioned that they specially customised and made these pillows. I think they should totally sell them as souvenirs! Uber cute!

Humongous cake!
The whole concept of backpacker hostels or shared dorms is not only to enjoy an affordable economical rate for comfortable accommodations but also to enjoy the warm hospitality of the owners and to get to know other fellow travelers.
Don’t get me wrong. Cheap does not mean bad. In Five Stones, I encountered warm service, comfortable beds (with warm quilts, firm pillows, soundproof rooms and also cool air-conditioned rooms).
FYI! For such places, it’s usually shared bathrooms.
Not only that, we can use the washing machines and dryers.
Drinks are available at anytime.
One can always lounge at the living room area
or use the computers provided.
The room we stayed in even had a TV! Ching Chong Boy and I actually watched quite a few season of Friends. heh.
We were pleasantly surprised by our breakfast. Ashley had prepared Nasi Lemak for us!
She mentioned that Five Stones Hostel will be offering their guests local meals on certain days of the week.
She is also planning customised tours for their guests. Guests at Five Stones Hostel are also entitled to an exclusive deals and discounts scheme that entitles them to discounts at tourist attractions, spas and F&B outlets such as Duck Tours, Mint Musuem and Feetpress.
Jacelyn and I were very amused at the Female-only dorm and we feel like organising another girly staycation! Anyone keen? 😉
Pity BFF couldn’t stay over too!
Thanks for having us. 🙂 Ching Chong Boy and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously. 🙂
