The kind folks at Hill & Knowlton invited me for a food tasting at Modern Asian Diner. I invited daintyfair along too to enjoy yummy food with me!
Some background info about Modern Asian Diner (which will be referred to as MAD now):

Located in Singapore’s latest and greenest lifestyle hub, The Grandstand, MAD is the next step in the evolution of the dining experience.
Some pictures of the place! The place is well designed and decorated however the location can be a bit of a hassle for the non-drivers.
Here are some of the dishes we sampled.
Foie Gras Terrine, Pineapple Chutney, Black Olive Crumble and Vanilla Oil. I am a huge fan of Foie gras normally and I thought this fusion variation was a bit lacking.
Teriyaki-glazed Mushrooms with Cuttlefish Tagliatelle. This really looked like pasta. The cuttlefish taste wasn’t strong or super overwhelming. A rather interesting dish!
Deep-fried Beef Spring Roll and Flaky Raddish and Ham Pastry. Was really normal to me.
MAD Baby Back Ribs with Homemade Barbeque Sauce. Delicious!
Mushroom Risotto with Poached Egg. This was just a small portion for tasting. One of my favourite dishes despite my lowcarb diet. However I do think the normal portion might be a bit too big, best to be shared else super jelak!
Some of the other dishes we sampled were:
Gyoza in a creamy sauce which was a bit too creamy and rich for me.
Asparagus. One of my favourite dishes!
A cream potato item which was really normal to me.
And last but not least… desserts and drinks!
Rum and Banana Tatin with Vanilla Ice-cream

I find the food there not bad overall and the pricing about right but I just felt their use of iPad (tucked under each table) to order was a bit redundant. nnIt is more of a hassle than convenience. Why can’t we just order from a normal menu and have the waiter take down the order? Is it so bad that this task has to be replaced by a machine?
