2013 is a new year for me! I’ve changed stylist to the lovely Caely Tham. Remember Caely? Really petite and pretty lady!
So… For my first appointment with Caely, i was feeling lost as I didn’t know what to do with my hair. My previous colour had faded then and my hair was looking messy.
So i asked Caely to recommend a new look for me and to touch up my roots. I had no idea whatsoever what would the end result be as i left everything in her good hands.
She said she wanted to try a dipdye look for me. Showed me the colour chart and mentioned she would do a more “warm” dipdye for me instead of the “cool” colours.
Reason being, if i were to take a cooler colour, i would need to bleach my hair to a lighter colour and she thinks my current hair texture might not be able to take the intense bleaching. Also, she feels that the warm dipdye would be a refreshing change as compared to the cool colours these days. I think my complexion suits more of warm colours perhaps?
So… Here begins my virgin dipdye experience!
For those who were wondering what’s the difference between ombre and dipdye, let me try to explain!
Ombre is more of a subtle gradiation of colours, usually a blending of a few colours while dipdye is usually a more drastic look, with the obvious line like literally dipping your hair in dye. My colleague Ian mentioned that the “hipsters” used to dipdye their hair themselves.
My dipdye “reno” look was a long process and i gotta thank the sweet Caely for being so patient with me even though i reached like at 7pm? *oops*
First, Caely bleached my ends.
Afterwhich, she coloured the rest of my hair. She chose a darker colour as i mentioned that i was tired of retouching my roots constantly. Hehe, lazy mah! A darker colour ensured that my roots growout would not be that obvious.
And then.. It’s time for a wash!
Tadah! Bleached ends! If you noticed, my bleached ends wasn’t too bright.. Caely mentioned to me, when my hair fades, at least it will be a lovely dark blonde instead of super bright blonde.
And then, it’s time to slap on some colours! Honestly speaking, when i first saw the colours, i was like “OMG orange?!?!?!”
But i took a deep breathe and decided not to freak out. I trusted Caely and i was sure, whatever she had in mind would be awesome.
My end result! Caely had alternated hot pink and orange and gave me bangs. She also mentioned, as i tend to wash my hair daily, the colour would fade say in 3 weeks? Which is why the colour she chose for me, will “fade nicely”.
I was skeptical at first but i trusted her.
Pictures of my hair!
Here’s a pic of my hair against my handphone case to show the colours.
It’s really hot pink and bright orange! I shocked my colleagues the day i went back with my bright hair. Heh! One of my colleagues even mentioned I was the “Lady Gaga” of the office with my constant different hair colours. Gotta thank Shunji Matsuo 313 for that!
And here… Pics of the lovely faded colours!
Started to fade when I was in Korea..
On my birthday..
During CNY. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the faded look!
3 weeks later and curled.
Caely was right. She had told me it would fade nicely and i loved it! I had 2 different looks with my dipdye hair!
I did a collage of my hair, the fading process lol.
Major love!!!! Caely has asked me to come back to touch up the colour but honestly i’m dragging my feet, love my faded look so much. LOL!
