As mentioned in my previous post, I would be sharing more about the Changi Millionaire finalists. I alongside 5 other bloggers have been invited to blog about the finalists and the event itself!
Yesterday, we met up with the finalists and all of us drew lots to see who we were assigned to interview.
I drew Finalist #3 Mr Peh Hock Peng or otherwise known as Michael!
I had a cosy hour with Michael and learnt more about him and his thoughts about the whole Changi Millionaire experience.
Here’s what I learnt about Michael!
– Michael is a Singaporean who works as a business development director of an intellectual property firm.
– He travels frequently for work, about 20 times a year.
– Frequently travels to India and China
– Has two kids who are 9 and 12
– Spends an average S$200 at Changi Airport each trip on gifts for his wife and customers.
He also shared that he nearly missed a flight to Chennai, India. If he had, he wouldn’t have been a finalist of Changi Millionaire! I asked him what would he spend on if he wins the million dollars and he replied that he didn’t want to plan ahead in case he doesn’t win. After much prodding, he said that should he win, he would use the money to invest in his children’s future. To move their place nearer to the kids’ school so that they wouldn’t have to spend so much traveling to school.
I personally feel that Michael is a really down to earth guy and after talking to him, it is pretty obvious he is a big family man. With everything he mentioned, I could tell that he puts his kids as his main priority.
He also is a very simple guy who is happy go lucky. He only mentioned about spending on his family and I don’t recall anything that he’ll like to buy for himself. He shared with me on his family’s excitement about him being a finalist and also mentioned, to him, winning or not, he feels that he’s happy to have a chance to experience this. He also mentioned he has a loving wife, good kids, good job and he’s happy. To him, he already feels like a million bucks. Should he win, it’ll be a bonus.
I also found out that Finalist #4 Mr Sim Why Teck aka Kenny is actually an acquaintance of Michael. What a small world! I teasingly asked him what if Kenny wins instead. Michael mentioned he’ll be extremely happy for Kenny.
I personally enjoyed my little chitchat session with Michael. He is a very jovial guy with an endearing personality and it was definitely a pleasure chatting with him. And of course, as the blogger assigned to him, I am definitely rooting for him.
All the best Michael!
For the rest of you guys, if you’re around Changi Airport, pop over to Terminal 3 to watch the grand finals of the Changi Millionaire Draw!
