I’ve gained a lot of weight since my Aussie trip and I’ve been feeling a bit bloated these days. I’m actually thinking of taking up a gym membership but since yours truly is quite broke at the moment, I decided to just cut down on my intake of food.
Which did not work cause I’m such a big glutton. So I was surfing around and taking a look at all the types of diets. Detoxs? No money leh. I can’t buy anything at the moment.
Then I stumbled onto this, Low Carb Diets which definitely makes sense. I eat a lot of carbs everyday, rice + potato dish + tofu + meat afterwhich followed by french fries or some other snacks. Since I don’t exercise, all those carbs are converted to body fat!
OMG!
What’s Involved in Low Carb Diet?
A cut on all carbohydrate from the diet and increased protein and fat intake. Cut on things like pasta, bread, rice and alcohol, yet unlimited amounts of meat, cheese and butter are suggested to eat. That’s why sometimes Low Carb Diets claim to be luxurious diets.
This sounds like a reasonable diet plan. I won’t stop eating! I’ll just start eating “smarter”. Less carbs! Then I won’t need to starve. HEH!
I was checking out the low carb recipes, and the recipes actually sounds quite good. Surprisingly! And apparently they have about 300 recipes?! o.O it’s a pity i can’t cook but i won’t mind if others cook for me! heh!
There’s actually low carb shepherd pies (hehehe, xt dearie, me want!), low carb chicken balsamic vinegar sauce (which reminds me, i need to buy some balsamic vinegar) and low carb asian crock pot steak! (steak! <3)
I’m gonna try this low carb approach these few weeks. Hopefully school and work would have quieten down soon and I’ll have some free time (and hopefully some money then) and I’ll be able to go to the gym (or yoga. I haven’t decided!)
Heh, anyone wants to join me for that gym or yoga membership? 😀
I just signed up with a gym under the company name to get good discount. Some colleagues n relatives signed up altogether too. Less than $60 at this bugis one.

Hey Nad,
I was on a similar diet before to detoxify. My whole family did it with me. For two weeks, we ate only meat and vegetables with a multivitamin and a glass of carrot-apple juice in the morning.
I lost a few kilos, a few of my aunts/uncles lost around 20kg.
Simple and effective.

YOU HAVE BEEN MISSSED TOO!
I think we should do lunch, dinner or BREAKFAST SOON!!!
Anyway, in my opinion, I think yoga might be a better option to tone the body, because carrying weights make one bulky!! However, gyms dont totally mean weight-carrying and plus, some gyms actually have yoga classes now! GOOD LUCK! 🙂

Hey Nadia! Good luck on your new diet! A while ago I tried this 7-day detox diet which involves eating lots of fruits and vege. The most I can hang in there was 3 days! But within the 3 days I did feel lighter. But I know it wasn’t good for the body. Now, I just balance eating and exercising. Skipping helps a lot too!

Muscle training at the gym does help yo reduce weight. More muscle = more calories burned per day.
But… the best method for weight lost to pair with dieting is still cardio exercise!
yes yes… tt boring thing called jogging is still the best

low carb definitely works but it’s definitely not for the long haul.
for starters when you go back to carbs you’ll gain weight like crazy.
but do try atkins. i did atkins a year back and lost 10kilos. =D

Hurhuhrurhurhruhrur.
Go do more cardio first… the weight/resistance training comes in when you’ve lost some “mass” and needs toning up.
Yoga is mind over body, helps you concentrate better and stuffr, not so much slimming unless you do the hardcore ones every morning or night.
For toning try pilates instead.
Go for the gym lah. Your office downstairs have what.

Swiming worked wonders for me. 5 hours of swiming each week worked like crazy and I went to having muscle in under a month.
