[Invited Food Tasting Event]
I was extremely excited when I received a food tasting invite from Food News PR and Hungry Heroes.
Not many may know this but I used to work in a Gaming Company for 3.5 years (well, if including the first time I was there, then it would be a total of 4.5 years). One of the games that I had planned for was DC Universe Online and I had the pleasure and honour of even visiting Sony Online Entertainment in San Diego, USA. Was planning for the launch of that game for about a year.
Coupled with the fact that I genuinely liked Super Heroes (lao niang used to read comics wor), I was super excited!
I went gaga looking at the place.
The venue is actually a marriage between Hungry Heroes (the restaurant specialising in meat) and Art Art & Away (a lifestyle space selling unique decorative art and home furnishing products).
My lovely dining companions that day were fellow Mystery Makan mates BFF Jacelyn, Esther, Jael from Food News PR and the lovely folks from Hungry Heroes.
We shared a Hungry Heroes Platter – The Steak-Out ($108+, serves 5 to 6) which consisted of a 200gm ribeye, full rack pork ribs, pulled pork, sausage trio, 250gm de-boned chicken leg, beef stew and veal osso bucco, a bowl of Truffle Mash Potato ($6+) and Deep Fried Luncheon Chips ($5+).
Wow. It was really a meaty platter. I personally loved it as I love meat! Out of the items in The Steak-Out, my personal favourite would have to be the ribeye and full rack pork ribs.
The rib-eye was cooked to perfection. We had requested for a medium rare and it arrived on point. I learnt that the pork ribs were actually a Hungry Heroes speciality. The ribs were cooked twice which explains why it was extremely tender.
The Truffle Mash Potato was heavenly. I gobbled way too much. *pats tummy*. Another favourite of ours was the Luncheon chips, or well, fries as I would call them. Normal french fries are rather jelak in my opinion and I really enjoyed the luncheon chips.
We washed it down with a few bottles of ciders, the Alska Strawberry & Lime ($15+) for me, Alska Lemon & Ginger ($15+) for BFF and a Stewart’s Orange N’ Cream ($5+) for Esther.
My overall verdict: Lovely themed place. Really love the decor and the meaty selection. I would definitely return with the hubby in future.
Bring the men there. With the amount of meat, beer and man-toys, I bet you’ll make them really happy.
