I was sponsored with these items from Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula (will call them TDF from now on!) to help me with my combination skin. If you are wondering about TDF, here’s some background info!

The kind people at TDF demonstrated a Chemical Peel on one of the Nuffnang crew.
I didn’t try the peel though but from what I’ve heard from the TDF people, it helps loosen dead epidermal cells, unclogs pores and improves the skin by regenerating new epidermal cells!
This is suitable for people with acne, enlarged facial pores, superficial wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and age & liver spots! For those with bad scars from acne, perhaps you can consider the chemical peel!
I’ve heard of TDF sometime back ago as the mothership works in an Aesthetic Clinic. I always “kope” her skincare range. But now with the set that TDF has kindly sponsored me, I need not fight with her no more!
The range that I was sponsored with is suitable for both combination and acne skin. (Which means I can share with ching chong boy in future!). It helps control recurring acne breakouts by eliminating the bacteria. I like the fact that it helps prevent blackheads and whiteheads by unclogging pores and it helps keep shine under control by regulating sebum production.
While I do not have acne, I suffer from combination skin. I get really oily t-zones and I get small pimples once in a while. Attended a talk by TDF and I was enlightened on the goodness of Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA).
AHA is actually fruit acids and there’s 5 different kinds of AHA:
- Citrus Acid which comes from Citrus Fruits
- Glycolic Acid which comes from Sugar Cane
- Lactic Acid which comes from Sour Milk
- Malic Acid which comes from Apples
- Tartaric Acid which comes from Grapes
Today, we’ll be addressing on Glycolic Acid which is extremely beneficial for one’s skin. It’s the smallest molecule amongst all the AHAs and is the easiest to penetrate through the skin. It helps stimulate cell growth, gently exfoliates the skin, reduces fine lines to help achieve a fresh and healthy look! Like baby skin!
I’ll be sharing with you on how to use the products! Makeupless pics ahead!
Here I’m using the AHA Facial Wash which is a specially formulated cleansing gel for oily, combination and acne-prone skin. It helps effectively remove oil and yet keeps the skin soft and supple.
First wet face.
Apply a small amount to your face using your hands (or a washcloth if you prefer). There isn’t much lather, so don’t be surprised.
Rinse off with water and pat dry. This cleanser helps brightens complexion and also gently removes oil, dirt and bacteria on the superficial skin layer.
After cleansing, it’s time to tone! Here I’m using a Mild Astringent.
Pour some of the toner onto a cotton pad and apply to your face, or in my case, my oily t-zone areas.
The Mild Astringent helps tighten pores, kills acne-causing bacteria and also gently remove excess oil.
After cleansing and toning, it’s time to control!
Here I’m using the AHA Oily & Acne Solution 8.
Apply liberally twice a day.
This solution contains 8% AHA and it is used to remove dead skin cells, stimulates cellular growth and helps primes the skin for optimal absorption of treatment products. It also contains 0.5% Clorhexidine which provides antiseptic properties to protect and soothe the skin.
Now it’s time to hydrate! Here I’m using TDF’s Ultra Light Hydrator.
The Ultra Light Hydrator is an oil-free, fragrance-free moisturiser that does not clog pores. It helps hydrates skin and mattifies skin while controlling oil and shine.
The most important step of one’s routine is the day moisturiser! I used TDF’s Antioxidant Sun Protection SPF 15 here.
Always remember to apply sunblock before any sun exposure! Sun exposure is very very bad for one’s skin as it escalates the aging process! Remember to reapply after excessive perspiration!
My favourite TDF product is the Clay Mint Mask!
After cleansing skin, apply to the face and neck, avoiding eye area. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and wash off after that!
I love the cool minty sensation! The Clay Mint Mask helps absorb excess sebum, draw out impurities, reduces the appearance of blackheads and refines pores and skin texture!
