This blog post is close to a year overdue. Oops.
Totally forgotten that I hadn’t blogged about it! Well, better late than never! As you guys already know, Ching Chong Boy proposed in December 2011. I felt really bad that he had spent quite a bit on the ring. (Honestly, am not into diamonds etc and I thought the money could be well spent on other things)
I thought hard and long and decided that I should treat him for a good holiday! He gave me a ring, shouldn’t I give him something? Today, we talk all about equality of the sexes and yet I hear of many females (who earn their own keep) demanding their men to buy this and that, pay this and that. Honestly was a bit disgusted by a few individuals.
ANYWAY, back to topic. The boy and I had wanted to try Club Med for the longest time but had always hesitated due to the expensive price. After the proposal, I decided to treat him to a Club Med holiday! We soon started to bio Club Med promo and managed to get a good deal! I remember seeing prices for a 5D4N Club Med Bintan was close to 1k per pax ages ago.. and we managed to get it at $1300++ for two!
At that time, I was already starting to lose weight and I told myself, I was going to try to lose more weight so that I can wear a bikini and wouldn’t feel self conscious! And I succeeded!
No six pecs but good enough for me!
Enough about bragging rights, let me share my virgin Club Med experience!
The place had Guest Relations Officers who has only one aim, to never make you feel alone. During meals, they will sit with you, chat with you and make sure you have a good time.
Honestly, it was fun at first but after a few days, I wanted some tianmimi time with the hubby (then fiancé). You can request to sit alone but it would be ideal to try a few days socialising.
You never have to pay for a meal, unless you want to.
There were buffet meals every day. There were certain theme nights but honestly, it was mainly international buffet.
The food was good and it was hard not to overindulge.
Enjoy free flow of drinks. And yes, that includes alcoholic drinks.
Beer was a staple for every meal. The Ching Chong Hubby replaced water with beer.
Because I was on a very strict diet back then, I had only water. Needless to say, the hubby had the time of his life.
There were a whole bunch of facilities that you could make full use of. The gym (which I visited almost daily), basketball court (which Smith would love), Tennis court, squash court, Dance room etc.
We also tried Archery!
There were also fun activities like kayaking, sailing, snorkelling.
Or you could simply nua by the pool. With a beer of course.
My favourite moment? Just relaxing and enjoying myself. No stress, no worries.
Just us, being silly together.
My favourite experience ever?
The trapeze. It was hard standing there. The bar looked so far away and I was so scared. But then I took a leap of faith. Just like when I said yes to him asking me to be his girlfriend in 2009. And agreeing to marry him in 2011 and finally agreeing to be his wife in 2012.
I didn’t know if I would fall or if I had made the right choice at all times. Just like when I first jumped from the trapeze.
But I believed. It was after all, a leap of faith.
And I’m glad that I did.
May 2011. Club Med Bintan. Best holiday ever.
I hope to return soon, perhaps with some fun pals like BFF, Fidel, Carrie and Rachie! It was really, a great experience for me. 🙂 The hubby and I aim to go to the other Club Med resorts!
I can imagine the fun factor shooting through the roof going on a trip with you girls!!! Keep Nad away from the alcoholic minibar.
